In the Rotunda of the Mariinsky Palace, a spectacular and unusual concert of Russian opera classics was presented by the winners of the Special Prize of the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg and laureates of the second season of the international intercollegiate youth cultural and humanitarian project “Opera & Podium.” The program included a scene from Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tale of Tsar Saltan, as well as arias from operas by P.I. Tchaikovsky and N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov performed by conservatory students. Students from the university’s Engineering School of Clothing acted as makeup artists, while costume designs were developed and produced by students from the Department of Garment Design and Technology. In addition to musical performances, the exhibition “From Sketch to Stage”, showcasing costume and makeup designs from the first two seasons of the project, was presented to the audience at the Mariinsky Palace.
